Baptized with a remarkable sense of rebellion, I began life in the piney woods of Meridian, Mississippi with skinny legs, freckled face, pigtails — and no valentines.
I grew up in a story telling family of readers. At the strange age of 13, I began my writing career as a columnist for the local newspaper in Hammond, LA.
